Mac McAnally's New Music & Big Heart
Mac McAnally's place in music history is more than secure. He's worked with the best, at every level of the business, as a songwriter, guitarist, vocalist, and producer. In 2007 he was inducted into the Nashville Songwriters Hall of Fame. Last year he took home honors as the CMA Musician of the Year. And earlier this year, Kenny Chesney teamed up with Mac to cut Mac's "Down The Road" and the single went straight to No. 1.
"I am really happy about having a No. 1 with my very good friend, and frankly, one of my songwriting heroes," Kenny said at the time.
On August 4 Mac released his latest album Down By The River, his debut on Toby Keith's Show Dog Nashville label. The album features a collection of 11 self-penned songs, including the lead single "You First." One of the song's central themes is self-sacrifice, so it's no surprise that Mac would decide to donate all the royalties from the song to the Wounded Warrior Project, an organization dedicated to helping severely injured troops returning from war.
Earlier this week Mac appeared on the Fox Morning Business show with host Alexis Glick. "Our troops go out there and risk for each other and for us,[they risk] everything..." Mac said, just after performing "You First" and meeting Iraq War Veteran and Wounded Warrior beneficiary Nancy Schiliro.
