Eli Young Band Receives ACM Nomination For Best New Vocal Group Or Duo
February 12, 2009
Universal Records South/Republic recording artist the Eli Young Band earned an ACM nomination for Best New Vocal Group Or Duo. The nomination is a career first for the critically acclaimed foursome.
The band was on their way into an interview at WWYZ in Hartford, CT this morning when they heard the news. "This has been an incredible year for us," said lead singer Mike Eli. "We played the Grand Ole Opry at The Ryman Auditorium and now this! Our single is in the Top 25 which is exciting and getting this nomination is such a thrill, we just can't find the words!"
They've had an incredible year, indeed. Their single "When It Rains" became the longest running independent country single in history. Shortly thereafter, the band was opening for Dave Matthews Band on tour and playing ACL Festival for the third consecutive year. Their major label debut JET BLACK & JEALOUS entered the Billboard Top Country Albums Chart at #5 and was met with praise in USA Today, American Songwriter, Country Weekly and in daily papers across the country from Arizona Daily Star to Chicago Sun Times.
Momentum out on the road continued to escalate after the album launch with live audiences doubling and tripling with each play in markets like Denver, Kansas City, Dallas and Memphis. The band closed out 2008 with a bang selling out 16 venues in just 6 short weeks.
Just five weeks into the new year, the band has continued their streak of sold out shows. They've been working hard criss-crossing the country doing radio interviews as well as recent interviews with GAC Headline Country, CMT Southern Fried Flicks, CMT Insider, CMT Radio, XM Radio and GAC Radio and Country Weekly.
Their new single "Always The Love Songs" climbs to number 25 this week on the country radio chart while their new video for the song has been added into rotation on CMT and GAC. You can look for the band in the Country Issue of People magazine, on stands now.
